On Saturday, February 1, 2020 we will host the 2nd Annual Powerful Learners Conference focused on student agency, or non-cognitive skill development, including social emotional learning through an equity lens. Together, we will build capacity in our schools and community spaces for honoring the unique needs and gifts of our students, setting the stage for them to thrive and break cycles of structural inequity.

I am a Venezuelan-Argentinean first-generation college graduate from Occidental College, holding a BA in Politics, a BA in French Studies, and a minor in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies.
I have a diverse range of experience and skills related to researching, assisting, and leading projects to support inclusion and diversity efforts by brokering efficient systems and compassionate relationships with the communities I have served. My experience includes: conducting critical research about gender parity in local and state Mexican elections for published professors; working in public relations to serve and engage communities of color in Los Angeles through political outreach initiatives; teaching and mentoring ELL students in Title I schools both individually and through nonprofit programs; promoting events and recruitment for diversity initiatives in higher education; serving constituents in San Francisco's District 9 as a constituent services representative; and engaging in political campaign work that supported progressive political aims to further women, immigrants, and workers' rights.
Currently, I work for Study Smart Tutors, a college access organization that focuses on supporting first-generation students from underserved communities. We work with educational institutions to provide college and career access programming statewide and nationally! I'd love to connect with folks who are in education equity-focused work to see if there is a way we can collaborate to expand our shared impact.
